John Williams Adams (1882-1938)
1938 Obituary 
JOHN WILLIAM ADAMS was for eighteen years manager of the Leeds branch of the Skefko Ball-Bearing Company, Ltd. He was born in Brussels in 1882 and was educated at the Athenee Royale and at the Ecole de Navigation, Antwerp. In 1899 he commenced a three years' apprenticeship with the Bell Telephone Company, Ltd., Antwerp (the Belgian branch of the Western Electric Company), and afterwards came to England and joined the Sturtevant Engineering Company, Ltd., as a draughtsman.
From 1904 to 1916 he occupied junior positions with various engineering firms in England and Belgium, after which he became chief draughtsman to the Skefko Ball Bearing Company at Luton. In 1919 he was promoted to be manager of the propaganda department, and a year later he received his appointment at Leeds, which he held until his death on 28th October 1938.
He had been a Member of the Institution since 1920.
