1841 Born in Flintshire, son of John and Harriett Taylor

1851 The head of the family was absent at the time of the census; he was funded by land proprietor (unclear); Harriett Taylor was his wife 32; also in the house in Kensington were their children John Taylor 9, Francis Ann Taylor 7, Henry Enfield Taylor 5, Phillip Meadows Taylor 3, Frank Taylor 1, and her nephew Ernest William Enfield 1 and brother Edward Enfield 39[1]

1881 John Taylor, mining engineer, lived in Marylebone, London, with Rosa Kate Taylor 28, Christine F. Taylor 3, Evelyn M. Taylor 2, Violet F. Taylor 1[2]

1884 John Taylor, of 6 Queen St. Place, London EC (the same as his father), joined the Inst Civil Engineers[3]

1911 John described himself as Member of Inst of Civil Engineers; he was living in Havering, Essex, with Rosa Kate Taylor 58, Evelyn Meadows Taylor 32, Honora Rowe Taylor 29, Phyllis Catherine Austin Taylor 27, his married daughter Violet Fairfax Stanton 30 and her son John Wyntham Stanton 4[4]
