JOHN T. BUCKLEY was born at Delph, near Saddleworth, Yorks, in 1859.

In 1873 he became an apprentice in the works of Messrs. Stevenson and Company, engineers and boilermakers, at the Canal Foundry, Preston, and served until 1880, when he became a draughtsman. He was appointed assistant manager and chief draughtsman in 1889.

Some years later he entered the coal trade as a merchant on a large scale, with headquarters at Preston and a branch at Lytham, Lancs.; the firm traded under the style of Buckley and Company.

Mr. Buckley had been a Member of the Institution since 1892.

His death occurred at Lytham on 21st December 1934.
