Spear and Bramall were file and saw manufacturers at the cupola in Gibraltar Street[1]

c1820 Subsequently Samuel Jackson was taken on as a partner - the firm became Spear, Jackson and Bramall.

1821 John Spear, merchant, steel refiner, saw and file manufacturer, with premises in Gilbraltar Street, was declared bankrupt; his property was auctioned off[2]

1825 Spear, Jackson and Co, of Gibraltar Street, Sheffield, were saw manufacturers; Spear and Co of Gibraltar Street were file manufacturers; John Spear was a manufacturer of Western Bank, Sheffield[3]

1829 Dissolution of the Partnership between John Spear, Joseph Tingle, Thomas Tingle, and James Bramall, of Sheffield, in the County of York, File-Manufacturers, trading under the firm of John Spear and Co. All debts received and paid by the said John Spear and James Bramall.[4]
