John Shield Pattinson
1857 Born at Scot's House, Bolden, son of Hugh Lee Pattinson (1829-1898) and Isabella (nee Shield), sister of Henry Shield.
1875-7 Apprentice at Felling Chemical Works
1877-9 Drawing office of Neilsons, Glasgow, locomotive engineers
1879-81 In charge of the engineering department at Felling
1881-2 In charge of the electrical department of Messrs Fawcett Preston of Liverpool and the manufacture by them of secondary storage batteries.
1882 Went to Nova Scotia, as engineer for the construction of the Halifax Sugar refinery
1885 Principal engineer of the Liverpool Nitrate Co
1885 Became an Associate Member of Inst Civil Engineers
1922 Died in Mexico[1]
