1842 Birth of son Edwin Oldroyd

1850 Britannia press. Exhibit at Armley Mill Museum

1851 Living at 13 Douglas Street, Leeds: John Oldroyd (age 35 born Easingwold), Whitesmith employing 20 men and 1 boy. With his wife Mary, sons William Oldroyd (age 10 born Leeds); Edwin Oldroyd (age 8 born Leeds); James B. Oldroyd (age 5 born Leeds); and two daughters.[1]

1863 TO PRINTERS. - On SALE, cheap, a Super-royal Britannia PRESS. Apply J. Oldroyd. White Horse-yard, Leeds.[2]

1897 Died. 'The death has occurred of Mr. John Oldroyd, at his residence, Hillary Street, Leeds, in the 82nd year of his age. Mr. Oldtoyd, in 1848, founded the firm of Edwin Oldroyd and Co, Engineers of Leeds. The remains of Mr. Oldroyd were interred at St. Mark's, Woodhouse, to-day.'[3]
