1963 Obituary[1]

"WE regret to record the death on August 5 of MR. JOHN KEIR, former personal assistant to the managing director of The Marconi International Marine Company Ltd. Mr. Keir's long and distinguished career of forty-five years with the company began when he joined it as a radio officer in 1915.

After war service he held appointments in Marconi House, London, and then acting for the Marconi Marine Co and for Marconi's Wireless Telegraph Company Ltd., he went to Brazil as managing director of Companhia Nacional de Communicacoes sem Frio, which he later reorganised as Companhia Marconi Brasileira. He returned to the United Kingdom to become Marconi Marine contracts representative for Scotland in 1946, but two years later was back in Brazil, again on behalf of both Marconi companies.

Returning to the Chelmsford head office in 1949, Mr. Keir became manager of the Marconi Marine Company's service division in 1951, assistant general manager in 1952, and personal assistant to the managing director in 1959, from which post he retired in 1960."
