c1833 Born at Newton, Lancs., the son of John Jones and his wife Mary Hoult

1851 Living at Popper(?) Ally, Newton in Makerfield: John Jones (age 49 born Liverpool), Engineer - Widower. With his sister-in-law Ann Hoult (age 35 born Old Swan, Liverpool), Housekeeper. Also his two children Annie Jones (age 20 born Liverpool) and John Jones (age 18 born Newton). One visitor and two servants.[1]

1859 January 13th. Married in Sheffield to Thomasine Turton

1871 Living at The Cedars, Stratford, Essex: John Jones (age 38 born Newton in Markerfield), Engineer and Ship Builder employing 106 men and 10 boys. With his wife Thomasine Jones (age 32 born Sheffield) and their three children; Edith Jones (age 4 born Stratford); Emma Ruth Jones (age 3 born Stratford); and Edgar Turton Jones (age 8 Months born Stratford). Also shown as visitors are his brother and family - James Jones (age 29 born Lancashire), Engineer; Madeline Jones (age 30 born Sheffield) and John Green Jones (age 5 born Cheshire?). Three servants.[2]

With his wife Thomasine Jones (age 42 born Sheffield) and their six children; John Jones (age 19 born Birkenhead), Commercial Clerk; Geo. A. Jones (age 18 born Birkenhead); Edith Jones (age 14 born Stratford); Emma R. Jones (age 13 born Stratford); Edgar J. Jones (age 10 born Stratford); and Thomasine Jones (age 7 born Stratford). Four servants.[3]

1891 Thomasine Jones states she is a widow.
