John Jones (c1831-1893)

1893 Obituary [1]

JOHN JONES died at Merthyr, on October, 9, 1893, at the age of sixty-two.

He entered the Dowlais Iron and Steel Works at an early age, and in 1871 became deputy-manager, a position he occupied until 1892, when, after forty-eight years' service, failing health compelled him to retire. He was held in great esteem at Dowlais, and at his retirement the workmen presented him with a valuable service of plate.

He was elected a member of the Iron and Steel Institute in 1870.
