JOHN HOWELL HOSGOOD, born at Cardiff in October, 1860, died in the same city on the 28th January, 1910.

After acting for some years as chief draughtsman to the Taff Vale Railway, he was appointed Locomotive and Hydraulic Engineer to the Barry Docks and Railway Company, a position which he filled for over 18 years, during which time he designed locomotives and rolling-stock for the railway, laid out pumping-stations and plant, hydraulic coal-tips and other works.

Mr. Hosgood was elected a Member of The Institution on the 7th March, 1899.
