1940 Obituary.[1]
John Howard, who passed away, after a short illness, on the 30th March, at his home in Great Crosby, Liverpool, in his 65th year, was elected a Member of the Institution in 1915. He had a wide and varied experience in engineering, principally marine in character, 14 years of which was spent in India with the River Steam Navigation Co., Calcutta. On returning to England he became interested in metallic packings for marine and locomotive purposes, and his advice was often sought on this and other subjects.
