'I, JOHN GOODMAN, heretofore called and known by the name of "John Gutgemann," of Number 112, Vivian-road, Harborne, in the city of Birmingham, Motor Cycle Manufacturer, hereby give public notice that, on the twenty-second day of August, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen, I formally and absolutely renounced, relinquished and abandoned the use of my said surname "Gutgemann," and then assumed and adopted, and determined thenceforth on all occasions whatsoever to use and subscribe the name of "John Goodman" instead of the said name "John Gutgemann."[6]
