Born the son of James William Sears, Shoe Manufacturer, and his wife Isabella Dwight. Brother of William Thomas Sears
1919 Died, of Callingtree Grange, Northampton, founder of J. Sears and Co., Ltd., Trueform Boot Co.[1] 'Mr. John George Sears, whose death has occulted at Collingtree Grange, Northamptonshire, at 46, rose from a shoe clicker at less than 30a. a week to be a great manufacturer and virtually a millionaire. He founded the firm of J. G. Sears and Co.. better known as the True-Form Boot Co., which grew by leaps and bounds until in 1912, when he possessed about 84) retail shops, 47 in London, he turned the business into a company.'[2]
