John G. Murdoch and Co Ltd was a company that had been founded in 1871 as a printer and publisher. Later they branched out into music publishing, importers, retailers and manufacturers of organs and pianos, agents for Edison and Columbia, musical instrument wholesalers, pram, mangle and toy manufacturers and more. Eventually they would have all these diverse enterprises plus a large chain of retail music and furniture shops.
1886 The company was registered on 2 September, to acquire the business of fancy warehousemen of a company of the same name. [1]
1891 John G. Murdoch and Co. Limited, of 91 and 93, Farringdon-road, in the county of London, Pianoforte Manufacturers[2]
1912 Presented an Application for Cessio. under the Cessio Acts, against D. MURRAY & COMPANY, Cycle Engineers, &c., Thurso, and William Douglas Murray, Cycle Engineer, &c., there, the only known Partner of said Firm, as such Partner, and as an Individual[3]
