Articles served under Arthur Hindle, M.Inst.C.E., of Manchester and Blackpool. Assistant to Arthur Hindle (as above); Chief Assistant to Brierley, Holt and Co., civil engineers, of Blackburn, Blackpool and Manchester. On Technical Staff of the Board of Inland Revenue; on Technical Staff of the Borough Engineer and Surveyor to the County Borough of Blackpool. Chief Works: Sewerage and sewage disposal, road construction and maintenance, water supply, gas undertakings, promenade and sea defence works, etc. War Services.— Joined Inns of Court Officers' Training Corps, 1915; Cadet, Royal Engineers (Field Coys.), 1916; Commissioned, Royal Engineers (T.F.) (Field Coys.), 1917; attached to Staff of Chief Engineer, Northern Command, with appointment of Supervising Royal Engineer Officer for Lincoln and Sheffield Divisions, 1917-18; Explosives and Demolitions Instructor to 6th Battalion Royal Engineers, 1918.
