JOHN EBENEZER BOUSFIELD was born in Devonshire on 1st August 1858, and was educated at Bedford Modern School.

After serving an apprenticeship with Messrs. Colman and Morton, engineers, of Chelmsford, he entered the office of Haseltine, Lake and Co., patent agents, in 1881. and six years later joined the firm of G. F. Redfern and Co., patent agents, London, becoming senior partner in 1889.

He retired in October 1921, and his death took place at Rickmansworth on 14th December of the same year, at the age of sixty-three.

He became a Member of this Institution in 1891. He had also been a Member of Council of the Chartered Institute of Patent Agents from 1889, and was President during 1916-18.
