1866 Born in Sweden, son of William Henry Dorman and his wife Eliza

1901 Census recorded him as a mechanical engineer and an employer (as was his father) - hence presumably already a director of W. H. Dorman and Co

1911 At the time of the census, he was visiting Frederick Manson Bostock, a shoe manufacturer in Castle Church, Staffs; single[1]

1911 Married Madeline Louise Bostock in Stafford[2], one of the first women to practice dentistry[3]

1921 Mr John E. Dorman resigned from W. H. Dorman and Co and joined the board of Henry Meadows [4] but Meadows were prevented by legal action from using the name Dorman for their engines[5]

1957 Died in Stafford
