"JOHN DANIEL DIXON was the responsible designer and engineer for telpherage and electrical winding plants installed in many parts of the world.

He was born in 1874 at Old Charlton, Kent, and he was educated at Roan School for Boys and Woolwich Polytechnic, serving his apprenticeship at the works of Messrs. Siemens Brothers and Company, Ltd. In 1894 he was appointed assistant engineer in the cable steamer Faraday, and between 1896 and 1900 he served with various steamship companies. In 1900 he entered the drawing office of Messrs. Siemens Brothers and Company, Ltd., remaining on the staff of this company for about twenty years. He joined the staff of the English Electric Company, Ltd., just after the War, and in 1928 he joined the staff of their associates, The Power and Traction Finance Company, Ltd. His work there, until his death which occurred on 3rd July 1939, was connected with the preparation of comprehensive power schemes of various kinds in different parts of the world. He was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1910."
