John Brown Moscrop born 1831 the eldest son of John Moscrop and his wife Alice Brown.

Apprenticed to his father's grocery business

Later employed as a cotton spinner

1871 Married Caroline Salt (aged 26) at Bradford

1874 Formed with three relatives J. and S. Moscrop Brothers, a cotton spinners and manufacturers business at Red Lumb Mill, Rochhale

1875 Partnership dissolved

1880 Partnership between John Brown Moscrop and William Moscrop disolved

1881 Granted patent for a 'Continuous Speed Recorder'. Manufactured by Arundel and Co

1888 Patented a fishing reel.

1891 Living at The Lodge, Platt Lane, Rusholme, Manchester and shown as an employer and Civil Engineer.

1901 Died aged 72
