JOHN BOSWELL CHAPMAN, born at Tunbridge Wells on the 23rd April, 1872, was killed by a fall from the rocks at Hardrow Scaur, Hawes, Yorks, on the 3rd August, 1911.
After passing through Cooper’s Hill College, he joined the Public Works Department in 1896, and was posted to Sind, where he served over 7 years.
He was then for 5 years in charge of the Dharwar Irrigation district, attaining the rank of Executive Engineer in 1906. Shortly before his death he was appointed Sanitary Engineer to the Bombay Government.
Mr. Chapman was elected an Associate Member of The Institution on the 10th January, 1905.
