c.1862 Worked on the New Brunswick of Canada Railway as sub-agent for the contractor Walker, Johnson and Co

c.1864 Worked in Brazil on the Sao Paulo Railway for R. Sharpe and Sons

c.1866 Went to Ceylon working for Mr Faviell, the contractor.

c.1868 Became manager of the construction of the Ceylon Government Railway

1870 Married Mary Watson in Bradford.

1870 of Colombo, became an Associate of Inst Civil Engineers

1876 Lived in Doncaster

1877 Worked for several years for Faviell supervising construction of a line for the Cape Government Railways

1891 John A Kendrew 51 Lodger in Bournemouth, living on own means, Mary Kendrew 50, Sarah Kendrew 22, James F Kendrew 20, East India Merchant's clerk[3]

1914 Died in Norfolk[4]
