Joan Mary Parsons (1907-1989), Piano teacher
Born at Sandbanks the daughter of Rev. Randolph Cecil Parsons and his wife Florence Emily Ashton
1933 Royal Aero Club Certificates No. 11431: DH.60 – Midland Aero Club
She then worked for a while at Hayling Island aerodrome
1938 She used a legacy "from an elderly relative" to buy G-ADNL, a Miles M.5 Sparrowhawk
In May 1938, she started a "lone, and almost unprepared" flight to Cape Town and back but after a series of misfortunes she crashed in Africa but survived. Full story at A Fleeting Peace
