1936 Sir John Jarvis instigated construction of a new tube works in the old boiler shops of Palmers, as part of his initiative to relieve unemployment on Tyneside.[1]

1950 Hot Finished Seamless Steel Tubes ; Copper Bearing (Corrosion Resisting), Steel Boiler Tubes ; Marine and Stationary Boiler Tubes ; Tubing for Heating Coils and Ships’ Piping ; Alloy Tubes for Roller Bearings.

1954 Tube Investments had planned to close the works in view of new capacity coming on stream in the Midlands but increased demand led to changes in their plans so the works stayed open[2]

1972 Jarrow Tube Works Ltd was renamed TI Desford Tubes Ltd
