James Thompson Graham rendered useful service to the Institution as chairman of our East Midlands Branch in 1934 and 1935, during which time he served also as a Member of Council.
He was assistant managing director of Worthington Simpson, Ltd., Newark, from 1934, and previously had held the post of general manager for eight years, and as works manager for a similar period.
He received his technical education at The Royal Technical College, Glasgow, and later served a six-year apprenticeship with William Beardmore and Company, Ltd., Glasgow, and Wallsend Slipway and Engineering Company, Ltd., Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
He was engaged subsequently with the Cunard S.S. Company, Liverpool, as works manager and assistant superintendent engineer, having full responsibility to the superintendent engineer for fleet repairs.
Mr. Graham was born in 1889, and was elected a Member of the Institution in 1928. In 1935 he gave an address at the Institution on the 'Bulk Handling of Petroleum'.
His death took place on 4th December, 1954.
