JAMES RAMSAY, born at Crieff in 1839, died on the 12th February, 1912.
After completing his articles under the late Sir James Brunlees, Past-President, he served 6 years on the staff of the Sao Paulo Railway, Brazil.
In 1868, he joined the Indian Public Works service in the newly constituted Railway Department, and attained the rank of Chief Engineer before retiring under the age-limit in 1894.
Amongst other notable works, he was Chief Engineer of the Bolan Railway, when it was constructed as the permanent railway approach to Quetta.
Mr. Ramsay was elected a Member of The Institution on the 4th April, 1876.
