1853 James Gibbs, junior took the lead in the company

1858 Business extended to Plymouth

1887 Lieut.-Col. James Ruddle Gibbs took charge.

1901 Incorporated as a Private Limited Company. Head Office transferred to Plymouth. See James Gibbs and Co

The company operated the Cwmbran Chemical Works.

1910/11 Chance and Hunt acquired James Gibbs and Finch of Cwmbran

1914 Products: sulphuric, nitric, and hydrochloric acids, tar and ammonia Distilling, dealing in Chemicals, Chemical Engineering.
