1853 Born son of Edwin H. Hawthorn, R.N.
Educated at Royal Hospital Naval School, Greenwich.
Trained at Sheerness Dockyard. Engineering Student, H.M. Dockyard, Sheerness.
Career in engineering in the Mercantile Marine.
Engineer-in-charge of several Salvage Operations
1888 founded the Engineering Academy known as Hawthorn's Marine Engineering Academy,
