James Fenton (1761-1834) of Fenton, Murray and Wood

1761 Born the second son of Samuel Fenton and his wife Ellen Leach. The family were descended from wealthy people going back to Thomas Fenton of Hunslet and Elizabeth Hoghton

1795 Partnership established as a steam engine manufactory at Holbeck by Matthew Murray, James Fenton, David Wood, and William Lister as Fenton, Murray and Wood

1826 After Matthew Murray's death, the firm became Fenton, Murray and Jackson

1834 December 17th. Died
