1890 Married in Bradford to Sarah Elizabeth Butterfield
1896 October. 'Considerable excitement was occasioned in Bradford by the appearance of a motor car. The vehicle is known as the Arnold car and belongs to Mr James Edward Tuke of Burleigh Villa, Harrogate, and Aldermanbury, Bradford. The car was occupied by two men and travelled swiftly and smoothly along the streets, a thin stream of smoke being emitted from the rear, smelling strongly of petroleum. To eyes unaccustomed to motor cars, the sight of the vehicle looked miraculous.'[1]

1901 Living at 76 Franklin Road, Harrogate: James Edward Tuke (age 34 born Bradford), Produce Merchant manager and Motor Car Salesman. With his wife Sarah Elizth Tuke (age 32 born Bradford) and their three children; Christina Tuke (age 8 born Harrogate); Jeston Tuke (age 5 born Harrogate); and Margaret Tuke (age 4 months born Harrogate).[5]

1949 Death of his wife. 'Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Tuke, aged 80, wife of the late James Edward Tuke, of Welwyn Garden City, passed away on March 14th, at the home of her son, Paul Tuke, of 280 Stafford Road, Lichfield'[6]
