JAMES COWIE, who was born at Aberdeen in 1886, was educated at the Woolwich Polytechnic and trained at Woolwich Arsenal.

From 1911 to 1921 he was with Messrs. W. and G. du Cros of Acton, first as chief draughtsman and later as works manager.

In 1922 he became works manager for the Aridor Manufacturing Company and in 1925 managing partner of The Park Royal Manufacturing Company, a position which he held at the time of his death on 2nd February 1928.

During his association with the Park Royal Company Mr. Cowie was responsible for various patents connected with showcases, tilting jar devices and a revolving stand.

He became an Associate Member of the Institution in 1927.
