Sir James Caird (c1864-1954)

1954 Obituary [1]

As we go to press, we have learned with regret of the death of Sir Jame Caird, first Baronet of Glenfarquhar, which occurred on Monday, September 27th, at The Well House, Arthur Road, Wimbledon.

Sir James, who was in his ninety-first year, had spent his long career in the British shipping industry. He will be particularly well remembered by the active part which he took in the restoration of H.M.S. "Victory," and by his generous assistance in the establishment of the National Maritime Museum at Greenwich.
