1870 April 16th. Born at Old Monkland, Lanark, the son of James Finlay and his wife Elizabeth Pettigrew

Educated at Airdrie Academy,

1903 July 30th. Married Margaret Helena the daughter of John Euston Davies

1911 Living at 143 Stow Hill, Monmouth: Margaret Helena Finlay (age 30 born Blackwood, Mon.), Married seven years and with her two children; Freda Bell Finlay (age 5 born Radyr, Glam.) and John Bell Finlay (age 2 born Radyr, Glam.). Two servants.[1]

1936 December 30th. Died. Of Portskewett House, Chepstow. Probate to Margaret Helena Finlay, widow, and Robert Pettigrew Finlay, Engineer.
