1840 Jackson and Bean, railway contractors[1]

1843-7 Messrs Jackson and Bean undertook the refurbishment of the Caledonian Canal

1847 Started construction of breakwater on Alderney; they took a large contract for building a breakwater and fortifications on Alderney. This work lasted for 25 years.

1854 Constructed Tyne Dock at Jarrow [2]
