1779 This was the date of establishment used by the company in its advertising.
1899 J. and G. Stewart Limited was registered, with capital of £120,000, to purchase the business of Scotch whisky merchants of that name in Edinburgh, London, Birmingham and Manchester.[1]
1917 The company went into voluntary liquidation in December.[2]
1919 A new company, of the same name, Anderson Place, Leith, was registered as a private company, with capital of £50,000, to acquire certain assets of the Distillers Co, and to carry on business as wines and spirit merchants, brewers, distillers, blenders, bottlers, coopers, etc.[3]
1980. Part of Distillers Co
1994 The company, by now dormant, went into voluntary liquidation.[4]
