J. W. Pickavant and Co

Company formed by Marcus Mindelsohn, Justin Mindelsohn and Jack Pickavant who later took on Joe Sykes. Joe Sykes left in 1931 and set up a tool distributor J. F. Sykes. In 1968 the two companies merged to become Sykes-Pickavant.
1921 New company registered. J. W. Pickavant and Co., Ltd. Private company. Capital £10,000. To take over the business of manufacturers and manufacturers' agents to the motor, motorcycle, and engineering trades, carried by J. W. Pickavant and Millicent E. Baker at Bradford-street, Birmingham, as J. W. Pickavant and Co. Directors: J. W. Pickavant, 52 Guernsey-road Liverpool; Miss M. E. Baker, Park View, Little Green-lanes, Erdington, Birmingham; J. 1923 The Managing Director is Justin Mindelsohn.[2]
