J Johnson & Sons of Chester

Ironfounders and crane makers

A hand crane made by J. Johnson & Sons is preserved in Chester, adjacent to Telford's Warehouse (see photo). The crane has been modified by the addition of a modern steel frame, and the design of the crane suggests that it was originally supported by the structure of a warehouse. A larger crane, similar in principle but differing in detail, has been preserved within Telford's Warehouse
