A passed fireman, of Toton Sidings, Midland Railway
Secretary to all of the seven sectional boards on the Midland Railway.
1911 Had 25 years experience on the railway. Testified to the Royal Commission on Railway Conciliation Boards. Asked no less than 500 questions. He was in hearty agreement with the principle of conciliation as a means of settling points of difference but he opposed the current system as the employers followed the letter of the law but not the spirit.[1]
