1824 Incorporated by Act of Parliament to provide lighting for the towns of Margate, Ramsgate and Broadstairs.
1877 The company sold half of its undertaking (that in Ramsgate and St Lawrence) to Ramsgate Local Board and continued to operate the remainder of the undertaking from King St, Margate.
1949 On nationalisation the undertaking became part of the Thanet Group of the Kent County Division of SEGB.
