Isaac Jacob Abdela (1874-1930) of Abdela, Mitchell and Co
1874 Born in Corfu, son of Jacob Elia Abdela, merchant, a citizen of Turkey.[1] [2]
1878 Jacob was naturalised a British subject[3]
1891 Studying engineering at Manchester Technical School; living with his parents[4]
Abdela applied for a patent for his design for steel surfboats. These were about 28 feet long and were claimed as virtually unsinkable due to inbuilt steel airtanks ranged fore, aft and as central seats.
1901 Living at 5 Hayward Street, Cheetham, Manchester (age 26 born Ionian Isles), Naval Engineer. With his parents Jacob E. Abdela (age 62 born Turkey but British naturalised subject), a Cotton merchant and Employer, and Mary Abdela (age 57 born Ionian Isles). Also his sister and three brothers (all younger than Isaac). 1911 Ship builder, employer, living in Manchester with Birdie Sophia Abdela 36, Sarah Julia Iris Abdela 7, Jacob Frederick Abdela 1, Esther Rosalind Violet Abdela 2 months[6]
1930 Died in Blackpool[7]
