1914 'The old-established firm of Isaac Bentley and Co., Ltd., oil importers, refiners, and blenders, paint, colour and varnish manufacturers, etc., was one of the first to recognise the advantages to be obtained in Trafford Park, and accordingly built new works in close proximity to the Manchester Ship Canal, to meet the demands of their ever-increasing trade. Their works are well laid out, and admirably adapted for their particular business. Large stocks of all the materials they make are held, so that immediate despatch can be given to all their orders. The works are connected by sidings with the railway systems of the Manchester Ship Canal Company and the Trafford Park Company, and goods are loaded into wagons at the works and despatched direct to customers without any further handling. The firm has, for a great number of years, held a high reputation for the quality of its many products, principal amongst which are the wellknown "Vinoleo" lubricating oils, "Vinoleo" wire rope lubricant, "Borallis" wagon axle lubricant, paints, colours, varnishes, etc.'[2]
