1891 Company was formed in 1891. They took over a mill at Prestolee

1894 Transformed it into the largest spinning mill in the world. Two more mills were built on the site in 1903 and 1907.[1]

1902 'The Irwell Bank Spinning Company have just increased their producing capacity by the erection of two additional pairs of long weft mules. They have now altogether sixty pairs of mules, 48 twist and 12 weft. As the mules are all long ones, the number of spindles all driven by one pair of steam engines is about 139,000. This makes it about the largest mill in the district. There is one containing more mules, but they do not contain as many spindles. The firm are engaged in spinning Egyptian yarns.'[2]

1959 Mills closed.[3]
