Invergordon Distillers

1959 The Invergordon Distillers Limited was registered as a private company, with capital of £200,000, to carry on business as distillers and bonders.[1] Specifically, the company was to operate a new grain whisky distillery at Invergordon.

1965 Invergordon Distillers (Holdings) Limited was incorporated as a private company on 16th March to acquire and hold the shares of the companies that constituted the whisky division of London Merchant Securities. On 26th March the company became public, with a share capital of £2.5 million. Invergordon Distillers was one of the four companies that the holding company now owned.[2]

1969 The company acquired the Bruichladdich Distillery on the Isle of Islay, giving them an Islay malt to add diversity to their portfolio of Scottish distilleries.[3]

1984 Hawker Siddeley acquired 76 percent of the equity of the company[4] when it acquired Carlton Industries

1985 The company acquired the Scotch whisky interests of Scottish and Newcastle Breweries, carried on mainly through Charles Mackinlay and Co

1993 Acquired by Whyte and Mackay
