From Graces Guide

Its roots go back to the Iron and Steel Institute which was established in 1869. It received Royal Charters in 1899 and 1975.

2002 The Institute was formed from the merger of the Institute of Materials and the Institution of Mining and Metallurgy.

2005 Merged with the Institute of Packaging

2006 Merged with the Institute of Clay Technology

2009 Embraced the activities and membership of the Institute of Wood Science

2010 Also included the Institute of Vitreous Enamellers.

Incorporated the Titanium Information Group (formed 1988)

Incorporated the European Association for Brazing and Soldering

2019 Celebrated 150 years since the formation of the Iron and Steel Institute
