1914 Obituary [1]

HUGH BATESON, born on the 20th June, 1870, died in London on. the 14th March, 1914.

Trained in the Locomotive Works at Crewe, and as a private pupil of the late Mr. F. W. Webb, he afterwards served on the London and North Western staff until 1895, when he obtained an appointment as Assistant Engineer on the Assam-Bengal Railway.

Subsequently he was employed as Executive Engineer on railway and bridge construction in the Punjab until his death.

Mr. Bateson was elected an Associate Member of The Institution on the 3rd December, 1895.
