Hope and Anchor Breweries, Ltd., of Wadsley Bridge, Sheffield

1942 Two old-established Sheffield breweries were amalgamated — Carter, Milner and Bird, Ltd., of the Hope Brewery and Henry Tomlinson, Ltd., the Anchor Brewery - and the combined company took the name Hope and Anchor Breweries[1]

1957 Acquired the Openshaw Brewery Co.[2]

1959 Acquired the Welcome Brewery Co.

1960 One of 3 breweries merged to form Northern Breweries Ltd[3]
