1908 Originally founded in Ohio, USA.
1919 Hoover Limited became a registered company in the UK.
1932 The first factory, in Perivale in Middlesex, opened with Hoover quickly establishing itself as the undisputed leader in the floor-cleaning market.
1937 Public company.
1946 Opened new factories at Cambuslang, Lanarkshire;[1] and High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire.[2]
1947 Advert as 'The World's largest Manufacturer of electric cleaners'. Also 'Laboratory Equipment embodying Test Devices for Components etc.' Manufacturers of Electric Cleaners. (Suction Cleaner Section - Earls Court, 1st Floor, stand No. 714) [3]
1948 Opened a new factory at Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorgan.[4]

1961 Manufacturers of electric cleaners, polishers and other household appliances. [5]
In 1985, Hoover merged with the Chicago Pacific Corporation, based in the USA.
c.1989 Chicago Pacific was acquired by domestic appliance giant The Maytag Corporation.
1993 The Hoover European Alliance Group came into existence in 1993 and is now part of Candy S.p.A, a private company based in Brugherio in Northern Italy.
Today Hoover, as part of the Hoover Candy Group, employing over 1,350 people in the UK alone.
