Hickman's Iron Works

Early 1850s: Alfred Hickman acquired the blast furnaces at Spring Vale near Bilston, which he expanded. Thus "Hickman's Iron Works" is short-hand for the Springvale Furnaces

Josiah Parkes (b. 1824- ) was apprenticed to Hickman's Iron Works in Bilston.

1897 The Staffordshire Steel and Ingot Iron Co was amalgamated with the Springvale Furnaces to become Alfred Hickman; the Spring Vale site continued to expand.
