1974 Introduced the first pocket sized programmable calculator, the HP-65, which performed 51 maths functions. Cost £445 including import duty and VAT.[1]

1974 Dr Eberhardt Rechtin was appointed chief engineer of Hewlett-Packard, previously manager of telecommunications.[2]
