Herne Bay Electric Light Co

From Graces Guide

The Herne Bay Electric Light Co. appears never to have been formally registered. It was promoted by a firm called Shippy Bros, backed by the Universal Electric Light Co.

The employees were not paid wages between March 1888 and January 1889, resulting in a court case at Canterbury County Court on 2 April 1889.

1912 The Herne Bay Urban District Council transferred its Powers under the Herne Bay Electric Lighting Order, 1909, to the Herne Bay Gas and Coke Co including the supply of electricity and the Generating Station[1]

1912 Herne Bay Gas and Electricity Supply Co applied for powers to supply electricity in its district[2]
