Herbert Merton (1884-1950) of Blaker Engineering Co and Herbert Engineering Co.

Possibly born in Kensington as Herbert Keith Wolfram Schmiechen the son of Hermann Schmiechen, a well-known Artist, and his wife Antonie both from Prussia, who were naturalised with their three children in 1892 while resident at 7 Cromwell Place, Kensington.

1911 Boarder at 133 Grosvenor Road, London N: Herbert Merton (age 27 born South Kensington), Managing Director of Motor Repair Works (Engineer). - Employer. In the home of William Loebinger (age 60 born Prussia, Germany), Technical Engineer - Motor and Cycle Trade - Own Account, and his wife.[1]

1912 Advertises he was trained at Armstrong Whitworth, Elswick, and now carries on a 'large engineering business' in Islington (Blaker Engineering Co).[2]

1916 Inherits 200 shares in the Blaker Engineering Co from Zachary Merton.[3]

1919 Married at Mapledurham, Oxfordshire to Phyllis Oakley Williams

1939 Living at Grove End, Wokingham, Retired Engineer. With Phyllis Merton.[4]

1950 October 18th. Died. Of Grove End, Sonning on Thames.
